Absence...

It's been over a year since I posted here. Not because I haven't done any work...I've actually done A LOT of work. But, that's the thing. Work.
Somewhere in this last year, something happened. I got a few really great gigs for some pet photography. My sorority photography obligations increased. I had some amazing families that asked me to work with them. I got some great nature shots to update the portfolio with. And that's what happened. My photography became work. A chore. An obligation. It started being routine and stopped being FUN. So I stopped doing it.
Because, for me, it's about the fun. Don't get me wrong, any time that I spend with my camera is fun, and the people I work with are fun, and the pictures are fun.....but I lost the joy. I stopped wanting to look around. I stopped carrying my camera everywhere I went, just in case. I stopped seeing what other people were missing.
And then I realized what I was missing.
So, I'm back to doing what I love. Taking in the world around me, looking for the bigger picture, finding joy in the ordinary. I'm back to loving my camera, my time, and my talent. I'm back to appreciating what God has given me and using it each and every day.
I'm back.
Here's the highlights of the last year.

So, here we are. 2015. I've got a major cemetery outing in the works. I'm attending some wonderful heritage festivals. I'm making an epic road trip to California. I've got my eyes on a canal trip. And in between all of that...there's everyday life.
I'm back. I hope you are, too.

Peace and Love.
